St. Anton am Arlberg Snowboard & Ski Session 2022

The Covid-19’ era was quite a blow to people who sought to travel. Restrictions were all over the place, so we never thought we could book such a trip on such short notice.

The yellow-jacketed, pink-ski Skier (let’s call him the Other Billy for the sake of the video) had already booked a 1-month trip to the Balkans in January and randomly called me in December asking if I would be up for meeting him somewhere in the middle(I think he mentioned McDonald’s?). I have no clue how and why we decided to book St. Anton in the end - but we did. We then called up two friends (let’s randomly call them Vj & Matt), and within a day or two, we booked everything.

So the Other Billy casually drove all the way from Bosnia to Vienna to meet Matt who flew in from the US. He then drifted his way to Innsbruck to pick me up (let’s call me BJ - based in the Netherlands) and VJ (based in the UK) and ended up in St. Anton.

In regards to the video content, it was actually my first time using a camera (apart from my phone) - let alone an action camera. Bill (being more experienced) advised some GoPro settings; so he helped get all my footage during the first day totally blown out. Thanks for that, Bill.

*Jokes aside, I thought you can just have a setting and leave it be. Nope, don’t do that. The truth is checking the footage in between runs is quite important as weather conditions always change. Bill did that, I didn’t. So as the meme says: “This is Bill… blablabla… be like Bill?”

Now the video itself has a lot of flaws when it comes to post-production, but once again it was the first time I was using Premier Pro. Colour grading, transitions, effects, sequence settings - did I say colour grading. This is a whole new world and you can spend ages in this.

I hope you enjoy the video nevertheless!

PS. We’ve actually booked another trip to St. Anton in a couple of months’ time. Hoping for even greater footage there!
